Student Advocacy Materials

WHY ADVOCATE?

If you’re a student in the HRM who likes to bike – in any way, shape or form – cycling infrastructure and advocacy can make it easier and more comfortable for you. Even if you’re comfortable on the roads—everyone should be able to feel safer while cycling in Halifax. This page includes materials that are specifically aimed at students and young people. Click on the image titles for access to the PDF documents. If you’d like to distribute these, or have questions about youth advocacy with HCC, send us an email to contact@cyclehalifax.ca.

GET FUNDING

Get funding to further your cause. Rising Youth Grants are easy-to-access micro-grants for youth ages 15 to 30 to organize a community project or event.

  • project volunteer hours are eligible for the Canada Youth Service Grants

If you apply to Rising Youth and want to organize a bike-related event or initiative, we’d love to support you in whatever way we can! From an online workshop to a group bike hangout to fixing up used bikes for students who need them — we can help make your project a success.

Contact us at contact@cyclehalifax.ca, or Cory Herc, the Atlantic coordinator at Rising Youth, at cory@takingitglobal.org.
