I LIGHT HFX 2017

I LIGHT HFX is a campaign run by the Halifax Cycling Coalition and MEC to raising awareness for cycling safety at night.

On November 3rd, light up your bike up with everything you have. There will be prizes for the brightest cyclist on the ride. The ride will take us on a tour of the Halifax Peninsula, bells ringing, music playing, and lights shining bright. This ride kicks off two weeks of outreach where we will give out 400 rechargeable lights to cyclists in need. MEC is also hosting a Club Night in the store which means 10% off anything in store. Some conditions apply*

Tickets are $15 for members, and $25 for non-members. Kids under 12 ride FREE! Add $10 after October 31.

Your ticket includes:

  • Registration for the ride
  • 10% off MEC store items
  • A free beverage after the ride
  • A donation to the I Light HFX campaign
  • A ballot for door prizes
  • Hot drinks & snacks prior to the ride

As part of the campaign, we will also distribute 400 rechargeable MEC bike lights to those in need. We will set up outreach tents across HRM, and will give away a free set of lights to anyone who bikes by without a light. We will target half of our outreach events to underserviced communities in Halifax and Dartmouth. Bikers will also receive a safety pamphlet, minor bike repairs, and MEC discount card.
