Winter Bike Week is back!
Join the Halifax Cycling Coalition and Halifax Bike Week for a celebration of all-seasons winter riding! Events will be taking place from Feb 10-16 throughout the city for people riding their bike all season long. All you need is your bicycle helmet to participate in free yoga & spin classes, energizer stations, winter workshops, group rides and more! *Important Update (Feb 9th): On account of the big storm slated to last overnight, the thoughtful folks at Halifax Cycles, Java Blend, Seven Bays, and Just Us! are moving their Winter Bike to Work Day specials to the coming Monday/Tuesday!
Feb 10th is the 5th Anniversary of Winter Bike to Work Day! This day is a celebration for cyclists who embrace riding a bicycle all year round. This is a global event for winter cycling commuters and attracts participants from all around the world. Check out the Winter Bike to Work Day Facebook page to find out more.

This is a group ride that will begin at the Halifax Central Library at 1pm! Join us for a “chill” group ride around the city. The route is suitable for all ages and experience levels. The participants who pre-register will be entered in a draw for cycling prizes that will be given out on the day of the ride. This is a great way to enjoy winter riding, so be sure to invite your friends and register early to not miss out.

Do you know someone who wheel-ly loves bikes? Show your love for biking on Feb 14th! We will be making valentines cards at Good Robot to send to your secret cycling admirer. And if you are head-over-wheels for cycling, 1$ from every brew will go towards to coalition’s advocacy efforts to make Halifax a better place to ride. We hope you will join us for a pre-valentines brew and some good ol’ fashion valentine card-making. All materials will be provided … except the beer.

The Bike Collective is celebrating a love of riding with a Winter Bike Week lunch time event at NSCAD! In association with HCC, the Bike Collective is hosting a free lunch time film screening of short films about bicycles! Pizza and coffee will be provided curtosy of SUNSCAD and HCC, as well information on how to access low cost bikes, where and when to access DIY bike repairs in Halifax. (Hint… it’s Bike Again and Dal Bike Centre!) Drop in for lunch, watch some films and chat about your concerns and victories while riding in the winter.
SNOWY MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDE

East Coast Mountain Biking (ECMTB) will host mountain bike group ride Tues Feb 14 @ 7pm at Shubie Park. It will be a beginner friendly ride on groomed/plowed trails through the park. We’ll be meeting for the group ride in the parking lot at the very end of Shubie Dr. in Dartmouth Crossing. Everyone is welcome!

Want to know how to get you and your bicycle ready for the winter? A winter cycling workshop and complimentary lunch are generously provided by Crombie Reit to get you in gear for a cold-weather commute. MEC and HCC will be teaming up to deliver this lunch and learn at Crombie Scotia Square for veteran and new cyclists alike! Please pre-register to participate so that we can prepare material for the session.

Cyclesmith will be hosting a coffee and treats station for all cycling commuters on Wednesday, February 15th 2017. The station will be set up beside the Cyclesmith store at 2553 Agricola Street (or inside depending on weather). Pedal down and enjoy a hot beverage and a treat on us!

Cyclesmith is putting on a “commute and win” promotion for the duration of the winter bike week starting on February 10th until February 17th. Daily, every cycling commuter that visits Cyclesmith (2553 Agricola Street) will receive a ballot, which will be entered in a draw for a Blackburn light set (valued at $40).
