This afternoon we were pleased to receive an email from Crombie REIT, the owners of Scotia Square, announcing their new bike garage just off of Barrington St. The facility boasts a number of cycling-friendly features:
- Bike parking
- Lockers
- Showers
- Air pump and repair kit
- Change rooms
- Secure card access
This is great news for commuters, such as Stewart Rand, a computer programmer who works in the facility’s Cogswell Tower. He said “it’s pretty sweet” and “… makes me feel safer riding a “nice” bike to work as well, since its access is controlled by prox card” in a series of tweets this afternoon.
They’re pretty proud of the facility, so much so that they’re inviting tenantsthe public to tour it on Friday, June 7th from 11:30-1:30, as part of HRM’s Bike Week. While you’re at it, check out the HCC’s Bike Week Discounts for Cyclists.
For more information about parking your bike here, contact Howard Boutilier, Client Services Centre Coordinator at 474-6612, or howard.boutilier@crombie.ca.
Let’s hope this is the beginning of a trend.
