Loresa Makonin Memorial Ride

Loresa Makonin was killed in a collision with a propane truck on the morning of October 7th, 2015. Makonin was a month shy of her 50th birthday when she was killed, marking the second death of a person riding a bicycle in Halifax in just two years.

The Halifax Cycling Coalition and Bicycle Nova Scotia have worked with Loresa’s family and the police to plan a memorial ride to celebrate Loresa’s legacy. We will ride from the Sobeys at 279 Herring Cove Road to the intersection with Purcell’s Cove Road, where we will turn toward the Frog Pond. Loresa was killed at the intersection of Purcell’s Cove Road and Herring Cove Road.
