Halifax Cycling Coalition marks 500th member on the heels of their 6th birthday

The Halifax Cycling Coalition is pleased to announce that we have had our 500th member join on the day of our sixth birthday party.

The Halifax Cycling Coalition is an organization of concerned citizens dedicated to improving cycling conditions and raising awareness of cycling issues in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

So far this has been our best year. The implementation of the Windsor St. Bike Lane and Bike Repair Stands popping up around Halifax are concrete changes. These real changes come with a marked increase in people getting around on their bikes. This is huge. A monumental shift can happen in the next few years if our municipal leaders are willing to step up to the plate. Excitement is in the air for what next year will bring and the HCC is currently trying to align priorities for the upcoming year.

Attendees at the birthday party are invited to make brief (1 minute) pitches for ideas to improve cycling culture in Halifax. Infrastructure, promotional campaigns, legislation, you name it, any idea is on the table. We will have members pitch ideas and the audience will vote on them. The winning pitch will be added as a campaign of the HCC going forward.

The birthday party will be held at the Bus Stop Theatre on November 26th at 7pm. Memberships will be sold at the door for 5$.
