Are you aware of any catch-basin covers (sewer grates) that are “bicycle unfriendly”?
Last year HRM and the Halifax Water Commission replaced about 50 catch basin covers following a request from the Halifax Cycling Coalition. The covers that were replaced posed a risk as bike wheels could become stuck between the openings in the grate.HRM has recently received requests to change several more on Carlton St. and in the Cornwallis/Maitland /Gottingen/Creighton St. area.
If there are others HRM should know about, please send the location to contacthrm@halifax.ca or 490-4000 so HRM can add it to this year’s replacement project.
